Sovereign Health has undoubtedly made an impact in Orange County, and this was made clear by the area chapter of the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI). According to NAMI OC president John Leyerle, Orange County is thankful for Sovereign’s service, adding that residents feel the same way for the generous spirit shown by Dr. Tonmoy Sharma, the Sovereign CEO.
Leyerle said in a statement: “Sovereign Health and Dr. Tonmoy Sharma, author, and mental health specialist, collectively bring some benefit to Orange NAMI County and particularly the population of Orange County that seeks the benefit of mental health support.”
In expressing his gratitude for Sovereign’s relentless effort to serve the Orange County community, Leyerle underscored Dr. Sharma’s generous contribution to the mental well-being of OC residents. Mental health specialist Dr. Tonmoy Sharma shared his wealth of knowledge and expertise by providing educational training to behavioral health professionals, which revealed the NAMI chief.
Sovereign’s Close Collaboration With NAMI
Sovereign welcomed the appreciation from NAMI, taking note that the organization is a leading advocacy group that aims to safeguard the mental health of Americans. NAMI is working at the grassroots level to improve the lives of millions of patients believed to be suffering from behavioral disorders and the stigma it brings. And Sovereign is striving to address this problem, which is thought to be a rising struggle currently affecting a sizeable portion of the national population.
Together, Sovereign and NAMI are working hard to better the lives of people coping with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. The latter two illnesses have been acknowledged as critical, and the two entities have been finding ways to set up focused psychiatric interventions.
NAMI, for instance, has started signature programs, four of which have been implemented through the funding provided by Sovereign. As Leyerle confirmed: “In the fall of 2016, Sovereign Health began funding four NAMI signature education programs and a support group in south Orange County. Consistent with NAMI Orange County’s long tradition, each of these programs is provided to every participant at no cost.”
Sovereign’s initiatives are meant to raise awareness to get the whole community involved in addressing the increasing cases of behavioral health issues. Dr. Tonmoy Sharma, author, and mental health specialist, has indicated that family members and teachers were briefed through the programs so they could function efficiently in a support system established for recovering people with a mental health condition.
And those who were afflicted and managed to get past their condition have been encouraged to become living witnesses of the hard-fought victory. As NAMI had indicated, the programs that Sovereign had supported in Orange County truly made a difference in the lives of many.
The Good Work Continues
Sovereign said the appreciation extended by NAMI is a strong motivation to continue the good work of solving cases of adverse mental health conditions. The care provider admitted that mental health remains shrouded in mystery, so that it would be a challenging task. Mental health specialist Dr. Tonmoy Sharma noted that getting recognition for its efforts boosts Sovereign and its team of specialists, said the company.
“It was a matter of tremendous pride when our efforts were recognized … We also know that we will walk the mile when it comes to eradicating the stigma surrounding mental health,” Sovereign said in a statement.
