About Tonmoy Sharma
Tonmoy Sharma, M.B.B.S., M.S.c., is the founder and CEO of Sovereign Health, a leading behavioral health treatment and recovery system located in the United States, Europe and India. Sharma’s extensive professional experience and background as a neuroscientist and psychiatrist have provided him with unique insight into the care and management of patients with behavioral health and substance use disorders. With more than 30 years of experience, Sharma’s leadership, accomplishments and contributions as a neuroscientist, psychiatrist, researcher, instructor and author have earned him prestigious awards, honors and grants for advancing the understanding of mental health conditions and their treatment.
Sharma has led over 20 national and international clinical trials, authored more than 200 peer-reviewed journal articles and co-authored five books and chapters on schizophrenia, including two with the Oxford University Press. His extensive research focuses on the relationships between the brain, cognition and human behavior in psychiatric disorders, particularly schizophrenia. He is a highly sought-after neuroscience instructor and worked as a Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry in London. As a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Sharma helped to lead a five year-initiative, called the Changing Minds Campaign, to combat the stigma of central nervous system (CNS) illness. He has acted as a peer reviewer for 14 national and international medical journals, as a member of numerous editorial boards and has served on several advisory boards governing antipsychotic drug development.
More recently, Sharma was elected to the National Alliance on Mental Illness Orange County board of directors and selected by the Orange County Business Journal to be listed in the OC500 as one of the most influential people in the Orange County business community. He also co-hosts a weekly broadcast on TalkRadio 790 AM KABC, called “In Your Right Mind,” a cutting-edge radio show that covers various topics on the latest headlines in behavioral health.
Sharma travels to professional meetings, conferences and events to advocate for, and train clinicians in, the use of measurement-based care, evidence-based treatments, and recovery management in addiction and mental health treatment. Over stop hulu from constantly refreshing the past few months, he has given several presentations, including a sold-out talk on cognitive deficits in addiction and mental health in Costa Mesa, California, a presentation on measurement-based care at the New York Society of Addiction Medicine’s (NYSAM) 13th annual meeting, an accreditation workshop at the Joint Commission’s conference in Scottsdale, Arizona, and a talk on evidence-based care at the Summit for Clinical Excellence in Chicago.
